Refinishing Project Before and After

I bought a wooden toddler bed for $10. It was painted white with a purple butterfly and I planned on refinishing it for Jamal. It had been sitting in my garage for a while, but now that Jamal is two I think it's time we transition him to a big boy bed! So our project began with Andre sanding down the entire piece of furniture. I have an inspiration photo for Jamal's room and decided to go with a two toned finish. Although the bed frame in my inspiration photo is black, the hardwood floors are two toned and I absolutely would die to have those floors love them and wanted to incorporate this into Jamal's bedroom pieces. We are doing an African theme for his room and plan on repainting his walls to match my inspiration photo. It took a week but we completed our refinishing project. It was great practice for when I get a hold of my kitchen cabinets! ;)

Happy Birthday Andre!

Today my husband turns 27. We always wait to do Jamal and Andre's cake together since their Birthdays are so close together. We did the birthday cake last night since Andre has to work today. The kids and I also served daddy breakfast in bed this morning :)

Labor Day and Sam Noble

Happy Labor Day! I hope everyone is enjoying their day off. We took the kids to the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History..and it was free today, Score! The boys were very excited to see all the dinosaur bones. We learned about the Indians, different plants, and animals from ages ago. The boys got to color, dig for bones, use a microscope, and see live fish, turtles, and snakes. We stopped by the gift shop on the way out. I always love the gift shops at museums. They have so much fun unique things including a lot of educational books, games, and science stuff. I plan on going back to some of these gift shops to pick out Christmas presents. We are spending the rest of our Labor day finishing up homework and refinishing a toddler bed and bookshelf for Jamal's room! I can't wait to see the end result. I'll post before and after pictures once they are finished :)
