There was a fishing spot that my husband has been wanting to try for a while now. I kept knocking it thinking that it wouldn't be kid friendly and was worried about trekking through the woods. Well, today we gave it a go. It was a long walk and seemed a little sketchy at first. We found a mattress and couch in the woods which worried me, but once we got past all of that, we found an incredible fishing and swimming area. We haven't had much luck fishing in Oklahoma. We tried out new bait today and it still didn't do the trick although I could clearly see fish splashing around. After a couple hours, a man approached us and a few others about this land being private property! That was really disappointing to hear. The kids said that this was the best fishing day they've ever had.

Jamal's First School Field Trip
Jamal had his first school field trip today at the Oklahoma City Zoo. He was so excited about it and had been talking about it for days. His class did not stay in a group, so Jamal and I were able to explore the zoo on our own. We tried to see every animal there, but missed the bears. Our favorite part was feeding the parrots nectar. I was very surprised how well Jamal handled it. I thought he would be scared of the birds landing on him, but he wasn't. I had so many parrots landing on me and my head, that people were calling me the bird woman! ha! We fed the sting rays shrimp as well! I'm glad I got a day of bonding with just Jamal and I. It's always nice to have one on one time with your kids.

Easter Dinner
This year, we hosted Easter Dinner. We invited over our good friends Julie and Emerson along with their three kids. I had games planned and great food. I found an awesome website article that included many Easter game ideas for the kids. Here's the link: Easter Fun and Menu Ideas. We tried out the Egg and Spoon race, Easter Egg Hunt, and Egg Toss. For Dinner, we had ham, English pea pimento casserole, roasted carrots, jalapeƱo potatoes, sweet potato casserole, rolls, and deviled eggs. Dessert, we had cherry chip cake, peach cobbler with ice cream, and dirt pudding for the kids. Everything turned out delicious! I used leftover ham to make ham salad sandwiches today.
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny!
My college was hosting a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny event this year. I'm glad we went, because it was probably the best Easter Egg Hunt my kids have ever participated in. They also had so many crafts, games, face painting, breakfast, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. The boys even got to sit in a Fire Truck and talk to Fire Fighters which is awesome, because Jamal and Ronde want to be Fire Fighters when they grow up! This event was a great way to kick off Easter weekend.
